The lifespan of a fence depends on the materials of manufacture. Fence, woven from cattails or reeds, will last no more than three or four years. The fence of willow and hazel or willow regularly serve up to ten years. But to be able to enjoy a beautiful wicker fence, in the longer term, it is necessary to protect the wood by treating it with antiseptic compositions.
If to take as a basis the method of weaving, the fence can be performed by the technique of horizontal or vertical netting
We select a basis for the future fence
A wicker fence, like any enclosing structure consists of the supporting pillars, and partitions, which are interwoven thin branches or twigs. Everything for fence, you can use wooden stakes or metal posts.
A significant drawback of such stakes is that they rot, and this significantly reduces the service life of the fence. To protect the stakes on the future site of fence you can build a trench, the soil in which to replace the layer of sand. Water draining to the base of the fence, will simply seep through the sand, and the wood will not rot. The pins themselves preferably in advance to handle the antiseptic chemical composition. To increase the stability of the fence the posts should be sunk not less than half a meter. Metal poles used in the construction of a two-meter high fences.
Vertically driven wooden stakes with a thickness of 3-5 cm will be a good prop for a low decorative fences
To give the fence a more natural and attractive appearance, columns it is desirable to paint in color zapleteny branches or vines
Stakes or posts placed at a distance of half a meter. As practice shows, such a step is most easy to stumble as flexible willow branches and hard twigs. The choice of ball is determined by taking into account the thickness and flexibility of the rods, as well as design ideas master.
Tip! Along the trenches the support posts are placed at the same distance, but closer to the edges of the fence it is better to install more. This placement of the supports would create a kind of lock to secure the ends of the rods.
Blank «right» rods
Traditionally, for the manufacture of fence used willow branches, willow or hazel. But in the absence of opportunities to purchase or stock up on a flexible vine, you can always weave a fence of thin annual fruit tree branches in the garden.
For high fences suitable for branches up to a thickness of three inches for a low decorative fences it is better to use a one — or two-inch rods
Suitable for cutting the long straight shoots. They can be cut, dried and stored, tied in small bunches quite a long time. For the manufacture of fence you can even use freshly cut twigs with green leaves.
The branches harvested for weaving must be thoroughly soaked. This will give them flexibility due to restoration of circulation juice. Flexible rods will be easier to twist, creating a simple horizontal or unusual intricate patterns.
Tip! To steam of branches and make them more flexible, but after drying to regain its former strength, it is possible to arrange «steam bath». But this procedure can be used only for raw, not varnished rods.
Rules of stumble and methods of decoration
Netting rods begin to run from the bottom row, gradually climbing to the top of the fence.
Rods carried by undulating alternately between the adjacent supporting pillars, stretching over the entire length
The branches have to twist the flexible portion of the support stakes, forming «eight», wherein each successive rod is a continuation of the previous one. In the process of weaving the fence has led to the side, the tops of the supports is best to attach to a smooth groove, removing them before the night of the last row.
During weaving it is important to ensure that the ends of the rods were located on the inner side of the fence. That fence is falling apart, the tips of the rods can be neatly secured using wire, instead of sticking «tails» to cut with a knife. The ends of the last row are not cut off, and quietly refuel along the stakes.
