Technology tinting parquet own hands
Tinted flooring allows you to protect the floor from mechanical damage and moisture, and change or highlight the color. Even the cheapest wood can be turned into something beautiful and extraordinary.
What is better to do toning ↑
The main materials for the toning of parquet are:
- oil;
- varnish;
- stain;
- a special system of coloring;
- wax.
It is recommended to acquire tools for toning only those manufacturers who have successfully established themselves in this market.
Oil ↑
Oil is a universal tool. It is used not only for toning flooring, but also furniture, walls, doors, and more.
Toning of parquet oil doing 2 or even 3 layers (if allowed by the manufacturer coverage). Otherwise it is recommended to use two-component oil or hard wax oil with.
The choice of oil also depends on the type of wood. For example, if the parquet from exotic wood, you will need a special oil, penetrates deep into the pores. If you cover ordinary oil, it will dry a very long time, due to the presence of such types of wood oil pockets.
Advantages of oil:
- because of deep penetration into the pores, the wood is protected not only outside but inside;
- no surface film like a varnish, the parquet can breathe;
- begins with time, crack and alloplasts;
- can be used in rooms without heating;
- between multiple coats do not require sanding;
- great colours can also be mixed to produce new shades;
- long life;
- environmentally friendly and safe product;
- before re-updating of the coverage is not required grinding.
Disadvantages:
- after toning of parquet oil, it will be impossible to cover something else, for example, a varnish, as the oil penetrates the pores of the wood;
- every six months or a year will require partial or full updating of the coverage.
Types of oils:
- single component;
- two-component;
- single label with hard wax.
The basis of single-component oils are soybean, sunflower, flax oil. Use this oil mainly in places with a light load or for furniture.
For floor use only highly stable oil and applied in several layers.
Two-component oils are the same oils, but with the addition of polyurethane. The oil dries faster, but the period of work with a mixture of reduced.
Single-component oil with hard wax has the same composition, but with the addition of wax. This oil is a good performance, as well as the oil penetrates deep into wood, and the wax covers the surface of a thin film through which the parquet will be able to breathe.
The process of toning consists of two parts, first applied colored oil, and then colorless.
The parquet covered with oil, requires certain care. Every six months the floor should be wiped with a soft cloth with a special tool, and every three years again to do the shading in the same oil. Or you can do it once a year only complete toning of parquet.
To daily care is cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth.
Lacquer ↑
Toning parquet lacquer also allows you to change the color of the flooring. Tint can be directly colored lacquer or add a certain color in a clearcoat.
To the color was richer, apply a lot of layers.
Varnish does not penetrate into the wood structure. So if you have the desire to change the color, the flooring must be just sanded, removing completely the previous layer.
A disadvantage of varnish is that it is resistant to permanent loads. Also does not allow the wood to breathe. In the case of falling under water, the paint begins to fall off.
It is also very difficult at the junction to spread the varnish evenly (it is desirable that the shading had people with experience in this area).
Stain ↑
Tinted wood floor stain allows you to emphasize the natural beauty of the wood structure (transparent tinting). Flooring is not only bright and saturated, but protected from most impacts.
Stain applied in three layers. The first and second layers to dry for three days, and the last week. Then the surface is washed and coated with a double layer of varnish.
The disadvantage of this tinting is that wood has a different structure, in the end, the color of the flooring is uneven.
Special coloring system ↑
The advantage of the coloring system is a long drying time at the time of application, resulting in better coverage.
After toning you need to wait until impregnation is absorbed, and then processed for uniform and complete absorption.
One of the most popular concerns a system for staining of Bona Create. It has a uniform composition, so it does not form spots. Store, even in the clear, for a long time. The basis of its composition is wood oil.
Available in nine basic colors that can be mixed to obtain the desired color.
Tinted flooring with Bona Create is high quality and is long term.
The choice of color ↑
This increasingly popular white color toning parquet. Because this color is always in fashion and goes well with lots of styles in design. Besides, if the room is small in size, it will visually increase. On white the floor is almost imperceptible dust.
If you choose a dark color, the walls and ceiling must be of lighter shade, otherwise the room will be too dark. Often do not recommend toning of parquet in black or very dark in color, as even small scratches will be very noticeable. But if the flooring is very old it is a dark color will hide all the flaws (chocolate, dark chestnut, and so on).
Shades of red add to the room comfort and warmth (cherry, mahogany, etc.).
Grey color tinting in combination with the beige tones will help make any room a relaxed and very comfortable. You can also combine with black and white colors.
Tinted brown colors will fit almost any room design.
Bright color is recommended to choose very carefully, this is best done with a professional designer.
Preparation and application technology ↑
The first stage is sanding. With the help of special machines, the floor surface is cleaned from dirt and old coatings.
The second step is the grinding surface of the parquet with a large grain. Further, the grain size is gradually reduced.
Every wood should be sanded with an individual approach, due to the fact that they have different structure and age. If the wood will be sanded too large grain, then after the toning of parquet will be noticeable scratches, and if you make too fine grain, the impregnation is poorly absorbed. In the end, the color of the flooring get ugly.
All easier processed oak flooring and ash and beech and pear is very difficult.
The third stage – putty and again sanding (to remove excess putty).
The fourth stage – the cleaning of dust and washing the surface.
The final stage – tinted parquet. Tinting is applied by brush, roller or trowel (depending on the tools and instructions to it), and then treated with a special single disc machine. You can do toning of flooring with their hands only, without using special equipment, but the work will last much longer, and the end result may be not the best quality.
Most of the funding for toning you need to apply quickly and evenly to drying has not begun to show spots.
Before you start toning, complete all other repairs, not to deform the fresh coating of parquet.
Well done toning parquet, will transform even very old and unattractive gender, or Vice versa, will help to give a vintage look or make it look like the wood of a rare breed.
