Gypsum plaster Knauf

German company Knauf is one of the world leaders in the production of plaster mixtures. Its most famous product on the Russian market are of plaster on a plaster base. The company produces several types of this material. Various grades of gypsum plaster differ in density, thickness of the layer, sensitivity to humidity and a number of parameters that must be taken into account when carrying out finishing works.

Hand or machine ↑

It is first important to distinguish between the material according to the method of application. There are plasters designed for hand and machine use. The latter are characterized by higher speed of application and less expense. The thickness of the layer on the working surface usually does not exceed 10-20 mm.

Machine plaster can be applied manually, although this may not be entirely comfortable. Such plaster is less dense and often just gutter and spread under the trowel.

But the plaster manual application can be applied using a special machine. This dense mixture designed for a significant thickness, up to 50 mm. It clogs the subtle channels of the sprayer and other machinery plastering machine. This can lead to breakage of expensive equipment.

In production range of finishing materials Knauf is a specialized plaster for machine application, МП75. It is resistant to moisture and does not crack even with thick. MP 75 provides a smooth surface after plastering. This eliminates the need for additional filling. МП75 can be applied to almost any surface, including drywall, wood and even a wall covered in old plaster.

Other varieties of plasters Knauf designed exclusively for manual application.

KNAUF Rotband ↑

The most popular are KNAUF Rotband. This plaster is versatile and can use almost all types of walls – brick, stone, concrete and polystyrene. It is suitable for application to walls and ceiling, can be used in rooms with high humidity such as bathrooms and kitchens. Rotband can only be used for interior decoration.

A basis of plaster is gypsum (or alabaster), used in construction for thousands of years. Suffice it to say that the stone blocks of the Egyptian pyramids were precisely bonded with gypsum mortar.

The advantages Rotband include:

  • absence of cracks on the plastered surface even at significant layer;
  • the water vapor permeability. Rotband does not retain moisture and does not create pockets of moisture;
  • environmental purity. The production does not use toxic materials. The cast is the same acidity as human skin, so the plaster does not cause allergic reactions;
  • the possibility of using different sound and thermal insulation materials;
  • fire safety.

In fact, Rotband at the same time and plaster, and putty. When used correctly on the working surface remains absolutely flat and smooth layer that does not require further filling and other processing.

The manufacturer allows for different variations of the color of the dry mixture and the deposited layer. Rotband can be white, have a grey or even pink. The color is determined by mineral composition of the plaster and does not affect the properties and quality.

Main properties:

  • the thickness of the layer thickness – 5-30 mm;
  • the flow rate of the mixture – 8.5 kg per m2;
  • full drying time is 6-7 days.
It is important! When performing of finishing works it is necessary to consider the shrinkage of plaster after application and drying.

This unpleasant feature of all materials on gypsum basis. The plaster should be applied with a small margin of the layer thickness to compensate for subsequent shrinkage.

For convenience, Rotband Packed in packs of 5, 10 and 30 kg.

Knauf Goldband ↑

Another popular plaster for interior decoration is from Knauf Goldband. It is not as versatile as Rotband, and is intended primarily for application to solid surface such as concrete or brick Foundation. Goldband can only be used for the treatment of walls. In this mixture no special adhesive components that increase grip. The application of Goldband on the ceiling can lead to the shedding of the plaster after drying. The best option is uneven rough plastered walls. This enhances the coupling quality and allows to level the surface before finishing. Goldband eliminates the considerable irregularities of the walls, up to 50 mm. applying a thicker layer is not recommended, as it can lead to the contraction of the plaster down to the horizontal appearance of ugly stains and cracking.

Overall Goldband is a simplified and cheaper version of Rotband with fewer additives and additional components.

The main properties of the plaster Goldband:

  • the thickness of the layer of application – 10-50 mm;
  • the flow rate of the mixture – 8.5 kg per m2;
  • full drying time is 6-7 days.

Goldband can have white, gray or pink. On the properties is not affected.

Knauf HP Start ↑

Knauf also produces plaster start HP Start. It is intended for initial leveling of the surface manually before further processing and allows to eliminate defects in walls and ceilings with an amplitude of 15 mm. Produced with this mixture, designed for machine application. He called Mr 75.

The basic properties of plaster start HP Start:

  • the thickness of the layer thickness – 10-30 mm;
  • the flow rate of the mixture is 10 kg per m2;
  • drying time is about 7 days.

The company also produces priming under plaster on a plaster base. They are combined with all plasters, machine and hand application.

The Council! It is not necessary to apply the mixture in several layers, one upon the other. The adhesion between layers is quite weak, which can lead to partial shedding of the plaster after drying.

Prepare the base for the plaster. Knauf Applying Mortar ↑

Knauf applying mortar is intended for preliminary processing of dense walls and ceilings before plastering.

It is important! It should not be used on porous surfaces, absorbent. This can lead to drying of the layer and deterioration of its adhesion properties.

Good use of Knauf applying mortar – drawing on load-bearing walls and ceilings.

Its advantages are:

  • the formation of the rough surface with good gripping properties;
  • water vapor permeability and sustainability;
  • the presence of a color pigment, allowing you to visually control the uniform application of.

The flow rate of the mixture is an average of 350 grams per m2.

For surfaces, absorbent designed another primer Knauf Grundmittel similar in performance to Knauf applying mortar. It can be applied to walls and ceilings of ceramic and silicate bricks, gas and foam concrete, drywall. Can also be used on wooden surfaces. Consumption Knauf grundmittel the – 100 grams per m2.

Also produced special blends to prepare the substrate for application of decorative plaster “Knauf” Risogrund and Churchland.
